Adolescents and Innocent?

Nirbhaya gangrape incident or in short Dec 16, a day that every women or a girl will not forget. Nation stood for harsh and punitive actions against Rape Accused, that appalled the changes in law system.

Though there was a delay but all 4 accused were hanged to death. What about the juvenile who was equally a part of the crime? His age saved him and he was let go with a short period in correction home.

Being adolescents and innocent are two different verticals. An adolescent is one who has not attain the mental puberty and is still in a fostering period of gaining all the information and knowledge around him.

Innocent is an attribute given to adolescents as they make mistakes without knowing the outcome or the result of their direct action. Mistakes are best learning opportunity for the kids as they tends to improvise on how not to make the same mistake but rather excel in doing things correctly.

The accused who was juvenile in nature was neither an adolescent or innocent, yet he was let go and not trialed as an adult because his age saved him. Nation wanted him to be hanged as well. If he would have been fostered with a thought of not treating women's/girls as a sex tool then he might not have done the blunder of raping a women. His act was an outcome of information he was gathering inside about Sex, Love, Women and Porn.

He was from a backward society and hence we can blame his education too for this heinous crime. Now what about those kids who are studying in renowned educational institution and had been involved in some or the similar crimes.

We have news channels, newspaper and a device we call mobile phone which is a source of instant information. Now if you recall the events like,

1. Boys of a renowned school made an Instagram Page and they used to discuss how they can rape their fellow female school mate.

2. Revenge lead to the rape and death of a a 6 year old girl child in the school itself.

I need not to rephrase the events as we parents somewhere down the road knows that our kids are wrong and we let them go because we think they are adolescent and its their age to make mistakes.

I read somewhere that "a drop can fill an entire glass". Well your ignorance are the drops and your kids are the glass. Technology is a blessing but it is also a curse which you may not wish to ignore. An uncurbable disease which fosters slowly in tiny minds due to you being innocent about your adolescents.

Act now, before you leverage another criminal under your nose. Be open to your kids about the effect of Pornography on their brain. Discuss things like importance of women in the society, respect, and being courteous. Parents are the best teachers provided you like to become a teacher and not the principal.

Remember technology cannot teach emotions, and being noble. You need to become that tool for them.
